The only way you will get a workshop to tell you which turbo to use is if you hand over the cash - you can't blame them really.

To work out what turbo to use, you need to work out how much power output you want. There's an absolute crapload of info on Garrett turbo's on here - might pay to practice using the search function.

fuel pump will come into play also.

People use from 280-700hp rated turbo's, there is alot to it.

There are two main off-the-shelf units: GT2860RS with either a 0.64 or 0.82 exhaust housing. People have also used 2871 and 2876.

You will find that a lot of the Garrett units are "built" and/or setup to suit each persons particular environment and driving style - not just factory spec'd units.

i run a 2876 on mine and am yet to get the pump done put plan to in near future . larger plungers and boost compensator. as above depends on power wanted and if your prepaired to spend coin on pump and injectors

S15 is similar to a gt2860 so I've been told

So it should work alright in theory.

On the smaller end, yes. Would be good street/tourer.

Turboglide use a bushed T28 so I'm assuming it would be similar.

it is the same..

gt28 is the inducer size "the bigger the number the bigger the turbo"
the 60 is the compressor size

r is ball bearing

s high flow

So what rpm would it spool up to 10psi by and would it hold 25psi at 3600rpm.

dont know if it would hold 25psi into the larger boost you wana a bigger turbo.. full boost of a gt2860 *should* have full boost by 2000rpm or lower.. dependiing on intercooler piping and things..

i dont run one of these turbos.. i have just a read a shit load of turbo facts off the garrett site and though research

ive had more hands on with turbo petrols then diesels..

but saying that there is no perfect turbo that can spool up massive ammounts of boost from 1500 rpm all the way to rev limiter.. when choosing a turbo decide how much power you want what you will generally use rpm wise ie i dont rev over 3000rpm all that often so id try keep all my power under that..

and dont go over the top power wise if you dont have the money we would all love 200rwkw diesels but its expensive to build.. boost comp fuel pump mods injectors engine work.. there is alot to consider when looking for big power..

from what i have read if your looking for a little extra push along and better fuel economy, the td's dont need a fuel economy the diesel left over in the pre combustion chambers is generally wasted thus a bout 5-7psi will take that left over diesel burn it creating more power so you dont need to put asmuch right boot into it..

but if you want to tune it then boost comp is the only way to go.. other wise in low rpm your egts will soar throught he roof..

I already have pump mods, boost comp, custom water to air IC and am using a modified TD05 H 20G high flowed and match ported to manifold. Max egts 450 deg C @ 26psi G
But I am looking fow a BB turbo that will give me same top end and spool up at lower rpms.

best off talking to someone like diesel tec.. thikn its dzl tec his username on here.. probably put you onto something like a gt2876r maybe i dont no the specs of a td05

*edit* just looked at the specs comprareg to a garrett unit..

its about a

GT2871R - 707160 - 10 only the compressor wheel inducer is .8mm under sized of the td05 unit you have but the rest of the garrett unit it bigger

maybe a
GT2876R - 705330 - 1

could be an upgrade being a balla bearing turbo it should spool quicker.. dont no much about that turbo though would probably need to be hi flowed and things..

turbo
