An individual vehicle modification application to be made to Queensland Transport for
body lift kits (blocks between body/cabin and chassis mounts) up to 50 mm in
height. Applications must indicate all changes being made to implement the
modification (including steering and braking componentry) and materials used in the
lifting blocks. Body lifts in excess of 50 mm will not be considered.
If acceptable, a letter of approval for the installation of a body lift kit will be issued by
Queensland Transport
You call QLD transport and get the application form.

You write down how much you want to lift by, ALL changes which must/will be made as part of the lift. What lift materials will be used.

They give you written permission, you do the lift, you take it to DOT to get inspected. They will inspect the whole car. Engineers and or approved officers cannot inspect body lifts in QLD.

by just cruizin'
pretty much what it says, the authorised people used to approve "Blue Plated" mods, engine conversions, different seats, cab cuts etc. etc. can not approve a body lift. You must first apply for it then get the vehicle inspected by the Department of Transport and they will inspect brakes and suspension and run their eye over the whole car.

To translate into WA-speak...

In QLD, modifications are approved by "approved officers" - basically mechanics who are given authorisation to approve modifications as well as do pre-rego RWCs.

Unlike WA, the transport department do not do roadworthy checks or approve modifications - with the exception of body lifts or vehicles that are defected (yellow sticker in WA).

In WA, but from QLD.

No, not at all. Read the first post again. In QLD body lifts need prior written approval, and can only be assessed and given final approval by DOT inspectors. Which is different for all other mods in QLD.

in QLD u can do a 50mm body lift that is the max measurment from the top of chassie mount to bottom of cab mount, not lift it 50mm from standard. all u have to do is use correct grade bolts etc. this can be found out by talking to main roads and there is no dot plate or blue plate just a letter of approval. talk to main roads first its very easy if u ask the questions.
