Navara Noise..

G,day,

My d22 navara is making a funny noise from the engine bay. It has a 2inch suspension lift and just added 1 inch body lift. When i finised the body lift i had to cut a bit out of the fans plastic plate because it was scrubbing against it. Problem solved :D but now the fan is no where near scrubbing or touching anything around it and when you give it gas even in idle i hear a noise like errrrhhhhhh, sounds like the fan is rubbing againt sumthing, but no. Have no idea what i can be. Also when in gears same thing, the only time you cant hear it is when the car is in neutral or your not giving it gas.

Any ideas would be really helpful. Thanks in advance

Cheers
Danny

Its one of the covers on the turbo! Three people I know with D22's have had the same issue

you say it only happens when you give it gas make sure its not engine torque throwing the fan into the shroud .

nah mate, the shroud was cut out all around 3mm so thats not touching it at all, thats what i thought of first but than i took out the hole shroud and without the shroud in, still made that noise when i drove it.

assuming you have a zd 30 engine ,also on inspection of the turbo shrouds pay attention to black diesel exhaust leaks , manifolds and egr tubes can cause some funny noises and are prone on that engine

Cheers for teh replys so far but got the problem fixed :D there was nothing wrong with the turbo or the engine the airfilter box was loose and it was giving that sound because the screw was loose and touching the body :D
