Hey

Can anyone tell me what is involved in swapping a petrol motor from a GQ PATROL to a diesel GQ 4.2. Will it match up to an automatic box or swap auto to manual?

also its on gas any problems due to that

bell housung needs to be changed, u need to strip your loom out from under the passenger seat and run the diesel one in, dash cluster with glow light, diesel tank and lines. and i think powre steerin and aircon on different sides. do you have a donor veichle or just buyin a td42

thanks that helps heaps i have a donor vehicle my old car got writen off its a 91 4.2 and i was thinking of getting a auto 93 gq with petrol and just swopping it over as mine only had 180 on the clock

I've done it, massive job.
The wiring is the main killer.

I wouldn't want to do it again.

If you have the time, friends that are good with wiring and can give you a hand and you don't need to get it on the road again asap, do it.

It is definitely more than a weekend job.
