just bought a 85 imported bj73 diesel with and aftermarket turbo for the missus it needs abit of work (rust modifying all that jazz)

just wondering if anyone has any photo's/info on what they SHOULD look like as in what they were new, more engine wise and some of the interior.

needs a few bits and pieces to get it road worthy.

any help would be great thanks guys

hey mate, i got a bj73 its got an import motor in it. i am just down near yatala if you want to check it out. i am running a denco turbo and am about to intercool in the coming weeks.

My inside is pretty stock just with add ons. and my engine is an import but it is very close to what the original 3b motor is. just a few differences in stud patterents on the intake and outtake. also the oil galleries are different but besides that the bolt ons have all been upgraded. but all in the standard places.

let me know if u want to check it out

If you're trying to get it back to standard, I'm happy to take that turbo off your hands...

ummm how does no sound.

It makes life so much more fun. all up with gauges and some mods for the imported motor i think the turbo cost me $3100 inc retuning of pump. I had the pump upgraded 6 months before due to a leak and that cost in parts $900 (got labour for free on that puppy thanks leanne) but its well worth it. $3 k with $10K worth of fun!!!!

i guess its the 3B block its a 3.4L, 4 Cylinder engine. Do you know if someone has rebuilt it? i do know that block been a 4 Cyl can wear the seals within 250-300k but thats if they have flogged the shit out of it. I have known that block to do 500K+ before needing a rebuild.

As for body, my little truck is around the 400K mark body wise and its still in great condition except for the rust in the windscreen frame......

Is it turboed? if not i really recommend doing that. I put a Denco Diesel Turbo Kit on mine and it drive like a car. so quick. all up cost about $3K but if i had another i would do the same.
