Just fitted some new flares from Double Black Offroad (Bill). Melbourne
They have allowed me to cover my new tyres which are Maxxis Big Horns 245/75/16 on king rims with a -13 offset.
New they measure close to 31's.
These pictures don’t show it but there is a small bodylift to follow.

Similar to what happened to me.. He measures out 4mts got them mixed up and gave me the rest of the roll by mistake.
I took my time screwing them in with self tappers, I used a washer to spread the load and prevent ripping the rubber, They are definitly not going anywhere. I thought they might warp with the heat of the sun but hasn't, A bead of sikaflex would make it real tidy and prevent warping but i didn't feel the need to.

I self tapped mine straight into the panel. As long as you don't plan on taking them off, this works fine. But I used slightly different rubber flares to Dodgy Dave. Mine are sort of L shaped so that they have a big face that you place flat on the body panel.

I think you got the larger diameter flare, it has a hole to feed a wire through on the edge yeah? Lucky you for getting it at that price

3 Q's
Any chance of getting a pick from the front or back to give an idea of width?
How do they fix onto the guard?
Have you done the same on the rear?
Cheers

just mounted them from under the guards with strips of alliminium. In to the same holes as the gutter guard types. I directly mounted it with screws down the base of the flare. Had to cut some of it with cutting disks to get a bit of plastic overlapping underneath the guard, bit since i got them for free, there was no issue. I know that it is a little dodgey but I did this as i was hesitant to drill massive holes in the body to fit them with the steel mounts that where originally inside the guards. As the car has completely no rust and would be a shame to ruin it by drilling holes throughout the body. As well as the next owner is forced to always use the same guards. But as it is now, i would easily just insert the steel strips that was used to originally mount the guards the proper way. i currently have the fronts fitted. But the rears are more of an issue, as i have to work it around the fuel cap and so on.
Apologese for the previous post, you cant actually get them for free. Though I got them free from another member on 'Darwin4x4' that upgraded from his stock flares on his XJ to larger ones.
Will try to get some pictures of how they are mounted now and the steel brackets that where originally on the flares. But it may be some time as the car is in the middle of a paint job.
