I have a 1997 toyota prado rv model. few weeks ago it started clunking when i turn right, dosent seem to do it everytime only on sharp turns, i think and maybe when there is a bit of body roll. only happens on right turns on the front drivers side. it started after hitting a large pot hole very very hard. i have had a look cant see anything broken or loose but i really wouldnt kno what to look for. Any Ideas??? has this happened to anyone else. Im also lookin at puttin a 2inch lift in anyone had any problems or tips i can use for later on

Busted cv? Is it a clicking sort of clunk?

Doubt you would have busted a CV from hitting a pothole but anything is possible.

Bit of a long shot but is it possible you've lost the plastic insulator off one of the steering stops? Chuck some grease on your steering stops and see if it still does it.

prado's run rack and peanut steering- the steering stops are inside the Rack, not on the hubs.

Our prado was clunking badly for a while, we pulled the front end apart to replace all the bushes, and found the front lower camber adjuster was loose, which was causing all the noise. The cam adjusters were frozen solid too, and had to be angle ground out and replaced!

takes about 8hrs to fully rebuild the front end of a prado!

Ahh you're absolutely right Ferrit. Forgot about that. I'd agree to look at bushes. Sway bar links and inner control arm bushes are common to go on them.

Replacing all the bushings with Urethanes made the whole front end work so much better offroad- its transformed the truck- its more compliant in the really rough stuff, and soaks up corrugations much better.

Did All the bushes, Top and bottom ball joints and CV boots, and didnt get much change from $1100 though!
