As the post says, I am looking for the best shocks to suit a EFS 2 inch lift kit in a 1980 4x4 petrol hilux, it is leafs all around, I tow with it but mainly for the bush, see's a few corragated dirt roads so after something reasonably comfortable that can handle a bit of a beating.

Cheers

Choose your shock style carefully, if you travel on corrugated roads frequently you could shorten certain shock absorbers lifespan from overheating them.

Rancho, boss, procomp, and possibly even bilstein are all good shocks and are under $800, the boss shocks are adjustable and big bore there $200 a corner when i got quotes a month ago, rancho's are $125 from superior engineering.

My pick would be bilstein or boss, in saying that i have rancho's at the moment and don't have a complaint.

If you have a 2inch suspension lift, id buy shocks for a truck with 3-4inch lift, this will give you better droop, without topping the shock out either.

Raw shocks are good gear. ive run 4inch ones on a cruiser, and custom ones on my comp rig. no complaints they are tough bits of gear.

We do many hiluxs with Bilsteins, should come in dead on budget or a tad over, improves them markedly over the average twin tube generic shock.

Thanks for the input people, so should I go for a 3 inch or 4 inch lifted shock? What part number/model is it for the Boss or Bilsteins?

Ended up going with a full EFS kit with the Elite shocks extended front shocks, should do what I need. Thanks for all of your input, was greatly appreciated. Now I have the task of fitting it all on the weekend

Good choice i recently pulled out the OME's & put in EFS leafs, coils front & 4 elite longer shocks.
I also removed an upper leaf & had them reset so they flex a bit better & ride softer......
Im sure you will as i do love the EFS made a big difference to my ute..
