Any reason why you want to do blow through rather than suck through? I'm pretty sure Drfrankenstein had a thread about supercharging an early hilux petrol not long ago have a search and try and find that.

well mate im just about the man to see if you want more power out of your little 4banger.thats if your not looking into turboing it..
i got a 4y 2.2 petrol and did this to it and it makes a huge difference in my car..
-took head off and got it shaved 12 1/2 thou to put the compression up
-shim up the valve springs to give it more seat pressure
-port and polish head (not cheap but makes huge difference)
-polish up intake manifold slightly (gives more air flow)
-put flat top pistons in it (makes massive difference.)
-dont know if you can do this because my mate done this for me but get a cam out of a early corolla (i think) and get it shaved.
-new lifters
-k&n high flow air filter (makes noticeable difference)
-extractors an 2 1/2'' exhaust with high flow muffler
-put a weber carb on it and put spacers in between carb and manifold to make more vacuum and get fuel in quicker
-put an electronic distributor on it (waterproof and more reliable)
it comes down to little stuff really.every little thing i put on plays a part in making a huge difference on and offroad.i only done it becuse im on my learners and cant do a engine swap or have a turbo so yea.
my mate owns a hilux wrecker (so he's driven alot of hilux's) and he said its the quickest naturally apirated hilux he's driven other than the 2.7.
so i did what any guy would do,grab a 2.7 hilux from the wrecker and race each other.it was bullbar-bullbar off the mark but when i got 3rd gear he started pulling past me,but i got wrong gearing for high speed and he was on like 28's and im on 33's so i think its pretty quick for $1500..
cheers..smiley..

I have finaly driven the hilux. The Fuel injected 4y makes little or no difference over the old carby 4y. Hit the supercharger button and holy crap it just takes off. I wouldn't like to add up the cost and it would prolly be cheaper to covert to V8. Would I do it again? Hell yea.. If I could work out how to post pics I would. It has come up great especially the look of the intercooler in the grill.

you would be best setting up efi and using and aftermarket computer
realisticly i think you would be better off puting in a 3rz for the money
you would have a factory reliable package with outs the quirks of relying on a tuner.
the tuner means soo much to the end result he will determin how much power ,the drivability ,reliability and fuel enconomy of the package
you can put a 3rz in in a weekend
i put a 3sge in my 80 model lux a few years back , it goes fantastic and is a secret weapon as far as flexible rev range for off road work it will lug at 600 rpm then spin all the way to 7500 rpm and returns 10l per 100
i have been mistaken in a few 4x4 parks for a trail bike (the sound it makes)
would only recommend the 3sge for single cab ,it works really well in a light weight truck
now my rn46 lux runs a 2jzgte a whole new ball game
everyone told me it would not fit and i was silly
well it fits and all that is silly is how fast it goes
