I know, I know. This topic has probably been discussed to many times to count however, here goes.

I am a recent convert to LR's (defender xtreme 04) and am rather new to coil spring setups. Been a hilux owner (4 vehicles) for 14 years. It seems to me it is difficult to raise more than 2" without major mods.

At present I'm am considering Safari Guard II and a 2" body lift to my rig. Has anyone had feedback in OZ as to reliability and suitability of this setup bearing in mind I do most of my running in Howqua, Jamo, King, Barkly, Moroka, Wellington River areas of the high country. Snow rocks n mud :D .

Second choice is OME and 2" body lift (Only because I have used OME twice with hilux) and found it to be a reliable product.

Also has anyone had probs running arb lockers in the front of a defender, from what I have read from your feedback the driveline seems to be the weakest link??

All replies greatly appreciated for a newbie owner.

Unlikely you will need a body lift on a defender, a 2" lift with the right rims and a little bit of flare trimming and you have 35 - 36" tyres.
A front locker on a standard rover front axles and CVs with big tyres is a very temporary situation. Just engage locker, turn wheel hard and plant boot. Then install the spares.
The SafariGard stuff I have seen was built for rock crawling. Soft spring rates for maximum articulation I guess. Might not be what you are after for loaded travel across corrugations. Good advice to talk to someone like Rangie Spares first.

Are the new rover fronts that soft?? What breaks C+P, CV's or what??
Can it be beefed up and if so who makes it and at what cost, cuz I hate wheelin without lockers specially in the country I go into and for the long time I go for 2-5 weeks.

I would have thought a front lifted wheel without lockers is more likely to break when it comes down than a locked front? Seen IFS hilux explode. Quite funny when its NOT your rig.
