Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Well, the time has come! I have finally got my "disco potato" today. So I have turbo, manifold, air box from a ZD30 (only thing good to come from the hand granages), and have just had the pump recoed and also new injectors.

So, what I am asking of you all is this. I need an adaptor (t25 to t3), dump pipe, oil and water lines. And I also need the exact size of the fittings. I have seen 14mm x 1.5 and also m11 x 1.00 both for GT28 turbos.

Can anyone help? Links to businesses that sell the products will also help.

hey what did the disco potato set you back if you dont mind. and why did you go with the disco potato and not the gt2871r for instance

Bought the "disco" from Infinate Limit Racing for $1275.00 delivered. I think the price now is $1400 delivered. I think I got it before he knew the price (aus dollar decreased) increased, but he honoured the price, without me asking. Excellent service and I recommend then highly!

Why the 2860 instead of the 2871? I looked at that, but I really need a turbo for low down power and torque rather than higher up the rev range. I did think about it seriously, as my father in law is a diesel fitter, and got me a cash price for reco of the pump and a 12 mm plunger would not have been a problem.

But I will also consider, if I get power hungry after I rebuild, selling this one, and upgrading. So it really is just baby steps. I'll i/c as well later, and then decide. But gee, right now I can't wait. This has been one year in the saving, and I want it on before I got to Bathurst this year!

What exactlt is a "disco Potato" i have heard it a few times now and still cant figure it out?

In regards to the T25->T3 adapter and plumbing, if you gave someone like Andy (Diesel-Tec) a call, he more than likely has a whole "kit" there ready to go. I think most decent workshops that specialise in this sort of stuff should have a generic kit available for purchase as the GT28** upgrades are very common.

Thanks for that. I now only need to fit it all up. I have everything I need. But missus is about due for the next child, so cannot guarantee if this weekend or next will be fitted up. But it will be done before I go to Bathurst in three weeks today!

Went to Mr Nissan today, to get an exhaust manifold gasket. This was for my Turbo fitup. Thought I would do the right thing?? I was asked for $25 for each port!!! Yep, bent over and reamed! So I though, hang on, you sure it isn't $25 total, rather than each port (6 ports for a TD42 for those that can't count, and I is one of em'). Was told, "no that's right".

So went for a drive to Rip Every Poor Customer Off, REPCO for others? And was told $19.90 for all 6 ports! I asked him if I could have one thousand PLEASE! As they were ACL brand, I tought this would ahve been a good idea. He looked at me like I was a ..... well, you get the idea.

I thought I could have made a mint, resold 'em back to Mr NISSAN for a nice little premium, but then thought, missus will take to me with a butter knife to turn me into a girl, so, better not. Not to mention that the guy behind the counter was mortified that I wanted one thousand!

Pays to check around, and keep a watch out for my build with pictures in the next fes weeks! Bathurst is only 20 days away! Anyone wanna come?Cannot wait!

the genuine gaskets are worth the money as it saves you pulling the manifold off again when the aftermarket ones blow out or mabe that only happens on my car i only got 2 months out of non gen gaskets with 16 psi boost now over a year on and no leaks

I'm 99% sure my gasket was ACL too - cost was about $20 as well.

Very good advice there, I have been caught out with aftermarket gaskets, go genuine where possible.

I got my gt2860 bolted up on friday, full boost by 2000rpm and doesn't drop off at all through the rev range. Its the .64 housing. Good luck with it mate.
