Dent in gas tank and RWC

Hey guys,

My Mate just got a GQ to try and outdo my MQ and he is trying to get it a RWC.. it has a dent in the gas tank on the bottom edge clearly where the previous owner has hit it on something.. not huge but a decent dimple about 30mm long 15mm wide..

So the RWC guy picked it up and wants to replace the whole tank :? is that really necessary? is it repairable or can he get it retested and it will be ok?

If there are any LPG fitters out there you opinions would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Craig

If it's a gas tank I would guess it has no hope of repair; replacement only.

AFAIK (and I could be wrong) the shape of the tank itself is a factor in its strength.

A dented LPG tank NEEDS to be replaced for sure.

Cheers Tiny80 that sounds like the way too go! maybe we can lift it up and put a decent bash plate on it at the same time!

Thanks

Any licensed gas cylinder test station will knock it back.
there are limits within the standards regarding dent size, width and depth.

Ring Patrolapart or PatrolDocta. They will more than likely have one that will fit straight up and will be in date. Maybe just take off the bashplate, clean the cylinder up a little filler and some paint and take it elsewhere for the roady. Then you can get another one later.
