Koni shocks 88 or 82

Im getting a set of Konis for my GU as all the cars ive been in with koni's ride amazingly well. There is a fair price differnce between 88's and 82's going by my last quote almost $500 so im curious are they that much better than 82's?

what have you run would you get the 88's over the 82's or not worry to much!

does anyone on here sell Konis?

Try suspension stuff or zordo on patrol forum.

88 is newer tech from my understanding

Pretty sure they where 82seris in my old SWB GQ, it was Diesel, steel bar, dual batts and PTO winch. SO fair bit of weight up front. And I was pretty happy with the way it handled. Even after a heap of fst corrugations, they still felt pretty good even thought they got hot.
I had mine for about 200 000km. I had them rebuilt for my brother and the Mal Lesslie mentioned that they where still in pretty good shape except for a minor oil leak from one shock.

So my next set will be Konis but will probably get the 90series just cos I can, not cos I really need them.

FWIW, a mate of mine has the 88 heavy tracks; and hates them. They wallow, he stops at the lights and the vehicle rocks, pulling them out and 'testing' them by hand they all feel different and generally not to his liking, and the manufacturer/installer wont come to the party what so-ever in terms of warranty.

Everyone's MMV of course :D

Yep, adjusting them doesnt solve the problems.

Really?

I've got three pairs of konis and couldn't describe any of them as "wallowing". Mine can be adjusted from bouncey to tight. The adjustment only affects rebound.

I have 30 series which are gas pressurised and 84 series which are twin tube.
The Koni website lists 30 series and 90 series.

Really!

Needless to say he is less than impressed, and would have to pay a reasonable amount to have them tested on a shock dyno on shocks less than 12 months old (at the time he raised the issue).

IMHO i think he is being a bit pedantic, but he's the one who paid the money and should get what he expected i spose. He isnt the 1st person either who i have heard arent happy with Koni's, but then there are probably more happy customers out there than unhappy so i spose dont take everything you read on the net as the be all and end all.

Depending on the rate of them, I'll swap him my 82's for them, and I'll do the work changing them too

I doubt its the actual quality of the shock rather poor valving for the vehicle.
