Auto Sparky in Brisbane

Hi All,

Had a day trip on Saturday up to Double Island, everyone else that I went with left around 8am, but with myself driving my 40 I thought I would leave about half hour earlier.

Got up to Noosa all good, no problems until I went to start the beast after fueling up. I thought one of my mates had pulled a fuse or something as a joke, but turned out we got it going my giving the starter a hit with the trusty maglite.

Wondering if anyone could point me in the way of a good auto-elec in the Brisbane area. I can pull the starter off and bring it to someone as well, cut out some piss farting around.

If you're going to the trouble of removing the starter motor yourself, you might as well just give it a good clean and put it back in. They aren't too complex.

Check the brushes. If they're getting towards the end of their life (i.e. getting short) the springs don't exert as much force, and can't maintain good brush contact on the commutator - the result is often as DrSlug described. Give the starter a thump to jolt the brushes a little, and away it goes.

I used both of these companies when I worked at Redcliffe, and had no issues with either:

Auto Electrics Redcliffe
56 Klingner Rd Redcliffe QLD 4020
ph: (07) 3203 7777

Redcliffe Car Electrics
220 Anzac Ave Redcliffe QLD 4020
