yeah but remember if u extend the shackle 3" u wil only lift the truck 1.5" coz u have only lifted one side of the spring.
does that make sence ??

Also watch the Shackle Angle. Too long a shackle and they will hang up to, or even past verticle and invert, and provide no room to droop.

Why do you want more height? Too look cool or for fitment of larger tyres? If you want to fit bigger tyres, get a good suspension kit, cut the guards.
Just extending the shackles isn't the best way to get a cheap lift. In the long run good quality springs and shocks are a better idea than a cheap fix

MQ's have tiny little short shackles (especially in front) so if this guy did go to a 3 inch shackle it would have to be an improvent (thats if the shackle is 3 inches bolt centre to bolt centre). I would even look at 4 inches.
If he is looking for some flex then a longer shackle is alomost madatory I would say .. just dont be silly about it ...

Dumbdance made up some 2" extended shackles for my MQ. we used 10mm plate and went from there. It made a huge diffrence in that when i out the suspension in instead of being 2" it turned out to be more like 3.5 on the front because of the set in the springs. Thus every time it flexed one way it would invert on the other and vice versa... long story short when you came off a track the car would be sitting up on the last side it flexed
I would say go for them, but remember that you will need to reinforce the spring mounts as they will surely break off

If you run longer shackles you should bring the front shackle mount closer to the springs main/rear mount. the distance should be 15mm longer than the compressed spring length and shackle length added together. but be carefull with shackle length i wouldn't go over 200mm

Cheers boys,
i will make new ones 180mm long.
i just wanted a cheap easy lift.
tryin hard to save for snowboarding in canada.
I'd love for spoa but cops and traffic dudes will shit me off.
They pulled me over and i got fined for spotties on the roof. I wasnt impressed. Im aware that extended shackles are illegal but at least if im pulled over the cop wont notice if i spray them trick.
Is there any particular steel i should use?
Also the rear shackles need bends in them. Will i need to re-enforce the sides like the originals?

Dont make longer shackles for the front. The chassis is not strong enough even after plating.
Also you dont achieve much and "ARE" they legal??
Transport authorities dont reject their use for no good reason.

dont forget it will screw your castor angle and your steering

should you choose to go for it.
brace the middle of the shackle so its a 'H' shape.
as said b4. if you put them in the front it will stuff up your castor angles so you will probably have to use wedges.
