14CUX "check engine" light

Howdy all, I am running a 14CUX hotwire setup on a rover V8 and have just been tidying up all the wiring (after a long time with it bodged together).

Just wondering if it is worth running the "check engine" warning wire to a lamp (the "choke" light is no longer required so there's a spare spot) when it is a catless set-up. The only info I have found is that it activates if there's a dodgy signal from O2 sensors, but I am not running O2 sensors anyway.

What else triggers the "check engine" warning? Anything very useful? Does anyone know?

The 14CUX is the ECU found in early 90s discoveries etc, with the hotwire EFI setup, in case that helps!

The "Check Engine" light is triggered by the ECU picking up serious faults. However the Disco 14CUX ECU 's did not not have that function even though the ECU is wired to a "Check Engine" red light is in the dash instruments (top left corner). The only way of activating this function is enabling the ECU with a custom chip that has that function.

Wow, thanks. As it happens I didn't bother running that wire to a lamp.
