Outer Limits 4x4 Board

inlikely to ever take off sway bar, don't want to spend to much, want to get the most out of it when buying shocks to suit the car though. looks like it has a 50mm lift.

looking into it for a freind if it was me i would be going bigger lol.

was looking at some kyb scorchers and i think there was a set of 2 inch lovells for around 440,

i put 100 series shocks in the rear and 80 series shocks in the front. Stock would probably be fine but aftermarket if u want a firmer ride. Should give you plenty of up and down travel, mine do.

don't have any issues with bottoming out or anything ?

haven't found any yet mate, and i've been pretty fast through some pretty rough stuff, i think i've hit the rear a couple times but was mostly due to the speed i was travelling i think

so 100 series rears in the rear and 80 series fronts in the front?

yeah mate, that's what i have in mine, works well...flex is incredible, i did take out my sway bars though

Realistically how much do you want to spend?

If you have the std IFS set up in the front, it won't matter how much longer the shocks are that you put in cause the travel is limited by the bump stops

The coil rear is a different story tho.

i would understand if you said down travel was limited by some other suspension component, but if the compressed length of a shock is too long it means that the bump stop would not reach the point at which it is meant to hit and the shock would bottom out on up travel instead...

OK, fair enough. I didn't explain it very well.

What I was trying to say is that by just putting 80 series front shocks in the front as was suggested earlier, it can't possibly give you more front travel cause it is governed by the bump stops to the upper & lower conrtol arms.
80 series front shocks work ok with a SAS but not with std IFS.

Agreed, as you say, at worst you will have less travel as the shock will limit up travel if it is too long or down travel if it is too short.
I think you will find for the IFS Hilux/Runners, if you order a std length front shock and a 2" raised front shock they will be the same lengths.
By all means do your own research if you think it's wrong.

yeah mate had a feeling that's what you meant but was confused.

80 series shocks sounded to me like they would be way to long, i just got a set of shocks that was apparently for 50mm lift and they seem to be working well.

i did not realize they had a down travel bump stop.. need to look a bit harder next time lol
