31's on a Vitara

Hey guys and girls...........
Just wondering what sort of problems I'd have fitting 31's onto a Vitara SWB
Its had a 2 in suspension lift, with a 2 inch body lift to come, but after measuring across the guards, it just looks a little tight...
They'll be on F100 rims for the offset, with bushranger flares hopefully covering the tyres........
Any thoughts or should i give up and go down to 30's :(

12uke has them on his rig. I'm sure he has a body and spring lift.

Cool Vit!!!
i think that your problem will be the offset rims. One of the blokes in the Suzi club has 31's with only a suspension lift - about 2 inches. Sure there is a few scrubbing noises at full compression but i am surprised how capable the thing is.
Note - Lock the rear diff!!
I will find out what sort of rims Mark is running.
Cheers

Yes they do fit and look bloody great under a Vitara.
I have 2" body lift and about a 3" suspension lift and the back wheels rub on the guards a bit when it felxes a little. I had 31s under my old vitara and that had 2" body and suspension and I had too give the frunt guards a bit of a hammer job where the mud flap does mount or did ???????? You will see if you put them on and go from lock too lock. If you are in brissy you can have a look if yah like.
Yes GODZUKI thats me

apparently one of the fellows in the zook club has just fitted some 32x9.5 centipedes onto his v6 vitara estate wagon. it's had a 2" spring lift (OME) and a 2" body lift.
I'm told there was only some minor trimming involved (mostly inside the wheel wells) and that the tires measure bigger than my 34x9.5" swampers (damn it!)...
anyway, hopefully i'll see it on wednesday and be able to confirm this marvel.

a guy in the Qld suzi club has a coiler and a set of simex 31 X 10.5, he states that when mesured they are closer to 33's

Hmmm 34" tyres into a 31" diameter wheel well. I'd like to see that.

Where's the pics of the vit with the 'pedes ? It's gunna be on the zook stand at wandin I hear?
I checked it out the other night, and they fit- sorta. There has been a fair bit of trimming of the plastic on both front and arches (fore & aft), and he is still to adjust the steering stops (tyres foul near lock both ways). the clearance on the rear edge of the front arches is less than an inch.
He tells me it's geared it near 20% taller (judged on speedo error), so now she needs some revs & clutch to get off the line, and struggles somewhat in 5th.
To me, it is just too much. Sure it looks tough (looks pretty cool for a Vit IMO), with tonnes of extra clearance, but the tradeoff in steering & in particular gearing, it'll struggle in much but mud. I think he plans on bumping the diff ratios, and anyway, he LURVES mud!!
BTW- It hasn't had an OME kit. Just 4 kings springs- still running Stock shocks/struts.

I'm told the top mount of the rear shocky might need to relocated if you have a V6 and go to 9.5" tyres.
Gearing still the main problem but I'm thinking of getting 225 75R 16 and getting the motor unichipped.

He is getting 5.112 and a rockhopper for the Vitara. It is the same process as a Sierra get the bigger wheels and then gear accordingly. There is still a bit of trimming to go but it should be good. I forgot to take pics of it at Wandin but it'll be on a club trip in a week or two so I'll get some pics then

did any of you guys go to the brisbane motor show?
there was a swb softop vitara there that had a set of 33x10.5 procomp's on it. it was a poser rig though, cause the tyres still had the sticker on the tread that all tyres come with when they are new. and when you looked at the front tyre from side on, it actually sat underneath the bullbar and the back of the guard, as soon as the tyre moved more than an inch, it would be scraping both back and front on the bullbar and guard.
