Anything can be done, can you cut, grind, weld and wire?

Electrically it would not be a simple thing to do as it would be a pain in the but trying to get all the signals that the toyota trans computer needs. I have tried wiring a toyota auto behind an LS1, and was nothing but trouble, and never got it working properly.
My advice would to be speak to a transmission shop about making the gearbox hyraulic shifted, rather than elec. or I can get gets to make the toyota auto's tiptronic. ie you have push buttons for up and down shift. However you do not have auto shifting.

Which vintage box. As far as I know the very early 80's had a non electronic box which would be easier but not as good a box. Other options for the electronic boxes include programmable ECU for the box only but they are not cheap. When I spoke to a auto box shop about doing a diesel conversion to the GU 5 speed auto the ECU was something like $2k.

late 80 boxes are the same as early 100 boxes. tho some of the electronics are different.
