FJ40 spring help / advice

Still modifing my 76 FJ40.

Spun the front springs round last weekend, Friday tried the back.

Problem:

The rear springs are the exact ones requested in all aspects ( dimensions and part number).

BUT they don't fit. They are at least 2-3 inches to short.

So my questions are:

Where does the rear spring hangar site ?? Right at the back of the chassis or in a bit.
Mine sits right on the back of the chassis. What is standard ??

And, if its not standard how difficult is it to get custom springs with a 25mm eye.

I don't want to re-set my springs because I did that with my last one and after about 3 months it was back to its original height.
But is that going to be an option that I need to look at ??

If you got the right springs here is a little trick i had to do to get mine in
i fitted the pin and bushes then put the diff onto the spring center bolt put a trolley jack under the center bolt jacked it up till the spring hit the chassis rail and just kept goin until the shackle was lined up slid it in let the jack down a little got a lever in the shackle flicked it out and lowered the jack at the same time bit tricky but if you got a stand under the chassis and be careful should work OK.
The springs i fitted were 40mm longer top leaves and they went in and the shackles were vertical i also had 25mm longer shackles with a bolt thru the middle to stop them inverting.
hope this helps you out.

If they are too short you can use FJ55 or 60 series rear springs they are a fair bit longer.

Post a pic of your rear hangers, sounds like they have been flipped.

60 springs will work perfectly if the rear hanger has been flipped and the front hanger is in the stock location but it will move your diff back a couple of inches. This means you need a longer tailshaft or a spacer and possibly shock mount modding/brake line extension. Also if its an early model the spring eye size is wrong but can be dealt with.

i have some 55 rear springs if you like. Better wheelbase, better ride and better flex.
