measuring springs for gq

Does any body know how to measure a set of springs its just my mate has some 4 sale and i want to put them in my shorty but i dont want to go biger then 4" any help would be great thanks.

Sure, you get tape measure and measure for one end of the coils to the other end of the coils. :D











































Then ring a spring supplier and give them your measurements and they will tell you what hight lift they are for. If you want 4 inch lift in SWB you will need 3 inch LWB coils.

If only it was that simple :cry:

A 2" lift soft rate coil could very different to a 2" hard rate coil

Than you have the variable rate coils
and also coils with different wire thickness.

If you end up ringing a spring manufacturer then get the OD of the coils as well, like stool said...the coils could be heavy duty, extra heavy duty etc. If you have stiff or hard shocks then you might not want a heavy duty spring depending on what you do with the truck of course.
