I own a 1996 Triton dual cab 4WD. It has a 2.6L 4G54 petrol engine in it. I need to replace it and have found a recon 6G72 engine from out of an earlier triton. Will it go straight in on do i have to modify the engine bay or engine mounts. Will the existing gearbox work with it? Does it need computerisation as the 6G72 is computerised i believe. Can someone shed a little light on the subject please? Would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly it is illegal to put an older engine into a newer car.
Aside from that I don't know...

It's also illegal to run 33s in some cases and put bonnet scoops in your bonnet, or driving lights in the wrong place but I think changing engines would be the safest of the four modifications.
Have you asked this question in the Mitsubishi or other makes section.
Cheers

Although the 6G72 is from an earlier model, my 1996 model came out with a 4G54, 6G72 and the 4D56 diesel so i'm not too worried about legalities. But i will check out the mitsubishi forum. I'm a forum virgin so please forgive me. lol
