Try hooking up your K&N like this and then go for a drive and see if you notice any difference.

have you seen how many different positions mine has been in? more than paris hilton..hehe
ahhh... I had the MRT one though....same difference....wouldnt the angle its on slow the air induction? what are you up too i smell something fishy?

what difference would that position achieve ?
the only thing i can come up with is that its further away from the extractors meaning the air its sucking in isnt as warm. which in turn mean denser air ... meaning more power.
dont know if itd be noticeble though

its probably louder going around an angle like that therefore you think you are getting more power.....Dave i am diagnosing you with ricer syndrome...
and Aj.....easy tiger.

I sound like a ricer with that new exhaust back section
- I don't particularly want to spend another couple of hundred putting a new muffler on there.

My Feroza's cheapo ricer rampod was a finerfilter pod type filter ($18) connected directly to the blackbox. And that foil type windscreen cover ($4) tailored down to serve as a heat shield.
It worked great then, sound and a bit of extra poke.

So is anyone going to try it?
It isn't hard to make the change.....
My theory is Daihatsu didn't put that long twisted piece of pipe there for the hell of it- it would have been a lot easier to just run the pipe directly to the standard air filter canister instead of how it's been done........
SOMEBODY TRY IT!!!!!

Looks like way to much effort mate... lol
Mine has the K & N pod, but i don't have the other pipe.. And I ain't racing out to spend money on it to find out what it does.. sowwy

yeah, I put it in that position......
First I had the normal piping with the originally installed air filter assembly. Then I threw out the whole stuff and only the resonance chamber on top of the valve cover and the first part of the piping with a K&N was left. Big "sucking" sound when accelarating and I felt some increase in torque.
Now, after modifying and having installed the Hurricane extractors ( yeah, mine is a LHD ) I was afraid, that the intake air temp would go up even more as with the previous installation with the heat shield on the cast-iron headers.
I added the "extra pipe" with the U-turn, just like shown in Davids pic.
I have not been to a torque tester, but I feel an improvement even more as during the first change. May as well come from the newly installed 2 1/4" piping with the cherry bomb silencer .
Seems to be a good idea to add the extra pipe from my opinion.

JoJo try removing the pipe again and see what you think afterwards. (From your previous post you fitted it the same time as changing your exhaust?)
Has anyone else tried it to see what I'm torquing about....
