turbo timer problems in GQ

I have just acquired a TT that a guy was using in a GU that he has just sold. He told me that the TT would just plug in and work. It is a BES brand and I have plugged it into my 90 4.2 Turbo dsl ST and it doesn't seem to work. The plug just says NISSAN on it and does not show any possible difference between a GU and GQ.
The thing plugged straight in. The car still performs all operations like normal regarding the ignition. I screwed the earth wire into the sidewall of the car. Maybe I could be getting a bad earth.
Does anyone know contact detail for BES or have any advice?

from what i believe, make sure you get a bloody good earth, had a similar prob after putting my old mans one in a year ago.
but also there could be adifference in the way the two timers operate, one being for a cetain brand of car.

When I got my timer installed, we wired the earth to the ignition switch itself making sure it had a good earth, but be aware that you need to have the power and activation cables the right way for the timer to activate itself. Also in my Nissan, I had to disconnect the little black button from locking my keys in the ignition till the timer ran out. Now I press the button and can remove my keys and let her run for 3 mins, or 1 if the cops are around (they don't like unattended cars, said something about it being illegal)

Problem is all fixed guys. It was a bad earth. I found the earth wire for my central locking anf tapped into the same screw, and now it's fine.
Regarding the use of the TT, yes, it is illegal in NSW to be more than I think 9 ft from a vehicle that is still running OR unlocked. It is an offence, and can be enforced. If the officer was that desperate tho, there are surely other things that he could get me for...
I now have setup my central locking to activate instantly, so the car can be locked and still run. Everyone should be happy.

Thats a neat idea Coke, will do that on the Nissan as well. As you said if the cops want to plenty of other things they can get me for.
