Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys, my local tyre shop has a set of 5 second hand rims for my zook in good condition that i can get really cheap, however two of them are 8" wide and the other three are 7". The guy suggested that i could run two of the 7" rims in the front and the 8" rims in the rear, with the other 7" as a spare. I understand that the rear will be more offset, but my question is, would this cause any problems at all? I'm planning to run 31X10.5's muddies on them.

I can't see why it would, the rolling diameter should still be the same.

you may find you will get very different wear out of the tyres due to the different rim widths.

Just get two extra 7's and call it good.
What are 15x7 worth these days ... $70 a unit.

I run different offset front and rear, my front rims are probably fractionally more narrow. But you wont feel any problems on road, even if the rolling diameter is different, you have free wheeling front hubs i assume? which will solve that problem, and you won't notice off road. But I'd think about getting all identical rims, it just means if you get a flat tyre on the front, you dont have to throw a wider rim on one side. I've been complacent, but I think i better get all the same size before I get a flat.

I ran 2" wheel spacers on the rear only for a while and didnt notice any adverse effects. But offroad on side angles it felt a little different, not bad just weird.

there is a difference between having different off set rims and different width rims . a tyre will crown more on a narrower rim and be flater on a wider rim , offset wise i wouldn't care at all and as long as you run the same width rim together ie 8" rear and 7" front you should be fine but they will obviously wear differently

Oh kk awesome, thanks for the info guys, i'll probably just grab another new 7" rim, and then have a search around for one for a spare.

If i were you i'd look for another 2 15x8 rims as quite often the tyre will rub badly on the front springs with a 31' tyre.
