after seeing roverrats rig in the members section i began thinking (again, i know! im scared too. thats twice in one week )

is there any rule stating you cant use tractor tyres in a comp? (not a mud drag event)

they arent street legal, but neither are swampers.

Pretty sure there is a rule saying no tractor tyres. CCDA www there will be a copy of rules there. Have a copy of the Ateco Winch Challenge rules from 2002 will try and find them.

CCDA rules say need more than 50% rubber touching hard ground and also states no agricultural tyres - sucks huh!

Swampers and Boggers are bad on the road - but tractor tyres on the road - I'd like to see that !!!!! Lucky to reach 60k's and don't dare try cornering.

our XD Falcon which had Ag tyres couldn't reverse up my driveway as the tyres just smoke up... it had a very slight degree incline (5deg)

Ag tyres are awesome in the slop, but suck on road (can't drive anywhere) and are only good for about 40kph...

Funny you should say tractor tyres on road

Done it twice

1. Jamo fuel stop 4xjerries and tank (got booked $135)
Won't repeat what cop said to me

2. Took traccie tyres up to black spur healesville to give em a go (spare afternoon) on back of tray and I was running 31x10.5x15 retreads (*slap me*) staked a retread and had to drive (*crawl*) home (no spare).

At this stage I lived in Heidleburg and it took me 3.5 hours from black spur inn to Eastern freeway exit @ 40 kms

The looks I got from people that passed me ranged from WTF to WTF is that F&^king thing. That the sweet lord no cops on way home.

And yes they wander yes they brake shit yes Hi range and yes hi range and trac tyres don't mix well oh well.

You only live once I guess.

BTW cop booked me in jamo for running agri tyres on a non agri rego

thanks, thought it wouldda come to that.

but the price you get aggs for. you can buy a set of 35s for on road and a set of them and it still ends up around the same amount. that way you can drive on road and off (where ever you want (except in comps)).

might end up just buying swampers. with my massive bank account

Anyone have a proce for 9.00x16 ag tyres??? I probably wouldn't notice the difference in handling and braking on a series land rover .

some mates and I put tractor tires on Suzuki lg80"s once, I think they where 600 by 16 and drove about 100km down the road to one of the best 4x4 tracks ive ever been on.
yes we had fun on the road and off we got up 70 km on road it sounded like a 747 was passing you lol we got some strange looks that day but it was worth ever minute.

Seen a guy with 20inch rims & tractor tyres on a stock G60 at an gymkana, 100% traction 0% fun, not enough power to throw mud or even break traction, very boring to watch. He drove there and back though, on the freeway too.

i thought about it for a while, was gonna get these michellin Xm108, worked out to be about a 36*10* 16 rims. But i couldn't afford the $440 a tyre. will still think about it for the future thou

There is a dude on this site with a green 40 series that runs in comps and has those tractor tyres. I have alo seen him on night runs so he must drive it on the road.

Given 2 poss tyre sizes there
1st fits on 16x6jj toyo rim 33" diam
2nd fits on 16x8 steely 38.5" diam

My set were Goodyear Farm Service Lugs but after some research for BJ they no longer manufacture them

I was a tad surprised to see you were booked for driving on the tractor tyres.....odd one indeed..... but then the agri tyres on a non agri vehicle may have been the answer....... the copper must have spent ages looking in the law book to find that one !!!

I see plenty of awsome tyres in the agricultral world every day and have often wondered as to their abilitys offroad.... maybe one day Ill fit up a set just for the hell of it !

the ones pictured would be fuggin unreal in the sand !!! ( the first pic shows a BIC lighter in the tread just for a size guide )

we used to pay $70-100 a tyre for ours from Leslie's Tyres in braybrook.


He has some MASSIVE Bar tread tyres too
