No matter how old the fuel filter is, It could be blocked. Maybe try a new one.

Does the engine shake when you try to accellerate? Maybe you heve an ignition problem. They have a bad habit of cracking dissy caps & burning out leads.

IS the idle rough? if so could be electrical as espoused earlier.
Another thing that happens is the second throat on the Carby can play up and you will get no acceleration, but it'll idle OK and same for fuel pump on the way out.
Need more symptoms.

Some more ideas, if the loss of power is only from this morning it could be;
i) The Distributor only gets vacuum to the advance module after the engine is up to temp, so possibly no vacuum advance or split in vacuum hose..
ii)The air filter also has a flap valve in the air intake that opens up after engine at normal temp so could be restricted air flow to carby.
iii) A Vacuum hose fallen off the carby.
iv) Fuel filter as mentioned earlier.
v) fouled plug, when were plugs last changed?
vi) Ignition lead fallen off, unlikely but still an option.
vii) Electrical as mentioned earlier, coil etc.

have a look at the thermostat, because if it isn't closing properly the engine might not be warming up properly

Head gasket, water leaking into the boars when you start it fouls the plugs, pull your sparkplugs out and have a look
