yeh mate they have a 'thermocouple' which depending on your dump pipe will have a plug you remove and bolt it into or (like me) you will have to drill and tap the dump pipe and install it as close as possible to the turbo (can be pre or post turbo)

Digital are alot easier to read and the auber ones have minimum and maximum limits you can set in them so it will alarm when it hits the limits you set... ie you don't want to go over 550 degrees so set low limit to 450 and high limit to 550 then you know when it is getting close and keep it off the high alarm

I have also heard of people setting a turbo timer up to these and while the truck is over a certain temp (they preset) the truck will run till below the safe shutdown temp and shut itself off....

no but if you hit that auber ins site you can see that these things have the ability to control alot of external functions the pyro finction is just 1.

i organised the group buy last time and now that the dollar is up again it could be worth doing again - i need a new probe so i would buy in. and am happy to organise it again if wanted. we saved about 20% last time the whole kit with the bigger probe and delivery was $100-120 from memory.

yeah hth tap into manifold or dump pipe. mine already had a tap in the dump top suit the thread for the probe so mine is in there.

ideally you go in the manifold pre turbo as its a bit more accurate. you opperate off different parameters here as well i.e say 750 max if in manifold or 550 max if in dump pipe.

most have it in the dump because its easier to not remove turbo etc to do it, but if you havent fitted yours yet, tap the manifold before fitting it and just screw a bolt into it until the time comes to fit your probe.

Nah there was someone on outers thats did it as i bought mine in the last group buy and i read about some one doing this.

The good thing about this brand is even if you pay full price they are still heaps cheaper then a kit you buy from a auto store.. and they look good, in either orange display or green (from memory)

thats the other side of it its only like $120 direct or say $100 in a groupie so not earth shattering but it all helps i guess.

red or green by the way, the green was like $10 more.

make sure if you buy direct you get the longer probe. not the el cheapo version.

elcheapo: http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... ducts_id=6

this is what we all got last time.
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... ucts_id=69

pretty good for a 3 inch dump.

this would also be good, but not being a L shape might foul on bonnets etc.
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... cts_id=108

but note the different threads on the probes... eg mine already has thread to suit the L shaped one which is 1/8npt, while the others are 1/4 npt.

nop idea, the read out had been very precise and responsive then temps started going off the charts like 1300deg then 100 deg the error code then 800 deg etc.

contacted the auber guy and he said its most likely the probe, you can test them by arcing out the two terminals that the probe attaches too, if it reads an ambient temp then the unit itself is fine and the probe is the issue.

been meaning to get a new one for a while but have been lasy

any one on the list ive written, please specify if you want red or green face. I would recommend that all go for the probe used last time as its nice and long and as rum pig mentioned the other probe might not be suitable 400c+
