My Handbrake will hold me on any hill but even if i pull on it hard during a winch test it cant lock front and back wheels when in 4WD.

Is this normal.?

yeah its normal you have Nearly 3000kgs on 4 wheels against a pissy pair of shoes inside that drum being operated by a cable.

Your handbrake is only designed to meet a certain requirement.

In OZ it is to hold the vehicle WHILE IT IS STATIONARY on an 18 degree slope (ADR31/35).

It is designed for nothing more.

Have never had an issue with any GQ (I have owner 6 drive cars and one comp rig) if properly adjusted even on stupid hills.

I wish it would. I need to remove the driveshaft so I can clean out the handbrake drum and adjust it...then it should be sweet.

i never touched mine and it held me on some rediculous hills on 2 traction wheels with lockers in. on a winch pull mine locked up a front and a rear wheel and pulled the car through the grass.
