hey monkeycritter looking good. Is it going on a GQ? did you go a 0.64 or 0.86 rear? let mees no how well it goes. THE NATION IS WATCHING...... you right now, seriously look behind you!

Sorry bout the lack of info. Going into my GU. Went for the .64 rear, as I'm not after a powerhose, but more low down power and torque. If I wanted power, I have a TO4B27 in the shed in excellent condition that is tempting me, but will need to mod the pump, and rebuild to take the boost!

The nation is watching! Well, there is so much talk on here about what each other have done with turbo's, but everyone has "paid" someone else to do it. There are some buildups, but mainly the petrol guys. Not having a go at yuse', just realised that there are a lot who don't know how to, would like to, but need some advice and pictures!

I can't wait for Friday! Father in law with his 2.8 hilux with a modded CT20 keeps whistling into the UHF when we go up hills, and I'm downchanging and slowing down. I know who'll be whistlin' dixie soon!

yeah am thinking of 64 rear housing as well but was thinking of 2871 bb with 48 trim front or 56 trim front not sure, instead of a 62 trim 2860 bb. was told 48 trim would be better for a bit more response low down and 56 for more flow up high where the 48 trim falls away (efficiency wise), 390 hp vs 440 hp (turbo rating)i rarely rev mine to 3000rpm more like 2500 2750 max so i want it all down low too. cheers

Got my 2860 installed last week, .64 housing and it goes great! 15psi at 2000rpm and holds that until 4000rpm. Hasnt been tuned yet, its in a gq with tickled pump and boost compensator.

Well, while I sit here drinkin' Jakc Daniels, I am pretty happy with myself.

Turbo is fitted! Took about 5.5 hours, and was very frustrating, as it was only near the end that I got into a bit of trouble with the fiddly bits. But, took it for a drive around the block to see how she went, and I have a grin on me like a 15 yr old with a stinky finger!

Tomorrow, I need to move where the oil return goes to. It currently is going into the block, where the GQ'a have the vacum pump oil return. Problem is, it is higher than the turbo, so I don't want to preasurise the seals, so tomorrow, I will take the sump off, and have the oil return go directly into the sump. This is why I wanted to do this myself, and to also share with everyone out there.

Find what is working and not working, what is hard and damn near impossible! Mind you, without a welder (mig) I'd still be going?? I'll explain more about that tomorrow when I post pictures. There is also the need to give her more fuel as well. But as I just got thepump done, but for a natural, I'll leave it where it is for now until I return from Bathurst. Wife having baby number two in...well anytime now! So I hope the trip is still a goer??

When I have 4 weeks off with the new bub, I'll take the pump off, and get the fuel pump done to "turbo spec's" with a boost compensator. I'll keep u all updated with that too. But tonight, she went a hell of a lot better, in fact, went almost as good as our near new corrolla!

Put a fat on a jellyfish twice I reckon! Oh, and I called the father in law to skyte (see above post) and to also set up a side by side. I'll tell u what, his Hilux goes very well, and I'd be happy to own it, ....except it is a yota!

Sometime tomorrow, I'll post pic's of the new install, and I'm also hoping for video? I'll see how I go.

Sorry 'bout the lack of info guys. If it wasn't for work, I would not have got out of the car. WOW! I haven't even given it fuel yet. Take a look at the pics.

Brad-chevlux, would you mind putting these pics up for everyone?

Took the father in law for a drive yesterday. He didn't say much, but I could tell he was thinking bout buying a troll after sellin' his lux!

Believe it or not, that hammer is for me to hit my pitbull on the head, cause he was pissin me off nippin me on the arse when leanin' into the engine bay.

Doesn't even hurt him, the dickhead! Think I might get a stock whip to scare the livin' out of him.

Thanks for posting the pic's. I checked to see if there were tips, but....

looks good mate, wat is the turbo manifold off??
works nice, leaves you with nice short piping.

Thanks. Well, we are back from Bathurst now, and the big rig ran smoothly. Manifold is off a late model TD42T, as it is the two piece manifold. The earlier ones had a one peice.

Still not happy with the piping yet, got a mate TIGing some alloy pipes up to make it nicer. Got it dynoed yet, well the missus is about to drop another pup, so waiting for that, 4 weeks off, and gettin' the pump done to turbo specs with a boost compensator.

Will then get a new exhaust, and will look at dyno then.
