Maxxis Bighorn vs Cooper STT for GQ with 6" n 35's

Hi all, its new tyre time again and I am after some advise. I have a GQ with 6inch lift and am running 35's. I currently have the older style stt's and am very happy with them but am planning a trip to the cape and am not running them as they have all had a repair or two. I am not wondering whether to go the new style stt even though a mate has had varying problems with them or do I try the Bighorns as they seem to be getting good reviews. I can get them both for about $20 difference in price so that isn't a factor. It is my daily driver as well as my toy so they serve all round. Any feedback both pos and neg regarding either tyre or other suggestions would be appreciated.
(Yes I know that this could have gone in the tyre section but I am looking for input from Nissan drivers mainly who have run them as different tyres behave differently on other makes.)

Shop somewhere else for tyres as there should be close to $100 difference per tyre.

Have got a price of $340 f&b for Maxxis and $365 f&b for cooper, How much cheaper or dearer should they be?? I also have been quoted up to $375 for Maxxis. Even on Ebay the cheapest for BigHorn is $345 + $40 Freight so I thort my price was okay.

bout 12 months ago i got a bighorn in a 33x12.5r15 for 220 a tyre fitted. the maxxis should be as sim said a good 100 cheaper than the coopers.
i personally love my bighorns the only problem is they do wear a fair bit quicker than the stts as they have alot softer rubber, but grip is rairly a problem on any terrain.

Tried to plug the side wall of a cooper st tire once, hole just kept tareing bigger. Had a larger hole in the side wall on old style Goodyear MTR. put 3 plugs in it and they stayed there another 5000km before being repaired and put onto a trailer.
the new MTR's are a little dearer than the price you have for the others thou but i have had a good run with the 3 sets i have had. One going slightly out of round after being bashed around under the rear of the car for years as a spare.
