what sort of wheeling? more mods and cheaper for hilux's. Navs will be much cheaper with less k's. Nothing out of the ordinary to really look for.

The D22 is built on the same platform as the D21 that started in the late 70s I think.
I would go Hilux over D22 simply because they are a better vehicle, but dollars can come into it as well.

ever going to carry someone bigger than a 6yr old in the rear seats?
If yes, get the lux. You need a 2nd knee once your over about 5' to get into the back of a D22 comfortably.

thanks for the replies so far. it will be soft 4wding nothing to hard .
yeah have noticed the small rear legroom of the navara as his girlfriend who is only 5foot had problems.
he thinks the lux sounds good but worried its lower then a navara.

I had to ride in the back of a D22 a couple of times. God it was a painful experience. Never again.

Yeah, navara's are not good for back seat room, there will be a better availability of parts for the hilux, the only other thing that is worth checking is Spring\Coil\Torsion bar, in that year model hilux's I believe they had gone to coils, if the navara is still torsion bar I'd strongly suggest going the hilux on that alone.
Edit: I just did some looking and it looks like that model Navara is torsion bar (correct me if I'm wrong) so go the hilux
