Back in the day Old Rexy put his name down the side of some Patrol as a Promotion :D .

For $3000, i'd buy it, then put on a Turbo

Thats what my young bloke said, but the fuel figures I saw on a previous thread scared me shitless.

21 litres to the 100Ks is that right?

It all depends on how much boost!

Exhaust size and tyre size comes into play!

Make sure the ecu is all good and it should be fine!

I get about 25/100 running 33's N/A TB42E

I know of a twin turbo tb42e shorty getting better fuel economy than v6 vt commy!

I'm surprised at those figures, ive always had the TD 4.2, the tray back i'm driving at the moment is turbo'd and I just filled up today and i'm getting 22 MPG or around 12.5 litres per 100ks, just got pretty standard 750x16s but they are a mud tyre.

Thought a turbo'd 3 ltre petrol would do better, was thinking along the lines of a holden turbo off the same motor.

Hey!

If you get a VL turbo your better saving your money and get a decent ball bearing job, STAY AWAY FROM EBAY CHEAPIES mate had bought one for 75 1hz it has failed twice and waiting for the replacement!

Go for something like a GT3070

But another option is getting in contact with brescani Racing and get a complete rb30det so you get the inlet manifold, turbo injectors and turbo manifold and bits and peices it should be about $600.

The standard turbo will only be good for 11psi ur better off getting something decent!

A mate has nearly finised building a 26/30dett coversion to a GQ shorty!
motor is built to make reliable 500hp daily, we'll see about that!
He will be runing a twin HKS 2530 FOR MAX TORQUE!

Worst i've got is near enough to 30l to the 100k's  , mind you that was just after i had the Turbo Highflowed and i was driving it with a bit of a heavy foot  .

Don't know what i'm getting at the minute, but it a LOT bettre as i don't drive every where on 15 pound now :D

Looks like the deal could turn to shit. He took in for the RWC and they told him the gas tank needs re stamping as its over ten years old. He's now thrown a wobly, reckons he could be up for a new tank. Tried to tell him i'll take its as is with no RWC, but he still wont settle on deal. Fellas this is the cleanest GQ you will ever find, plus ive got 4.2 turbo diesel motor & gear box sitting here thats in perfect condition. My idea was t put in this one, would have a GQ like new.

Mate at the moment i'n in N.Z. but come from Orbost, if I can get things sorted I will get back to you about the tank. Got a mate down down east who would do the running around for me. Can you pm me details of the tank please and how much

As for his problem, apart from being a drama queen. I think it comes down more to the fact that hes been told he cant fit gas to the Pathfinder he wants to buy, apparently not much room for the tank. Thought I would have had an answer by now but he's not replying.

cheers

Pics in november when I get back to Aus.

Not his truck mate, just a marketing thing from when he was big on the fishing show. Anyone remember that, how the mighty have fallen. Should have called it a Jezza special, guess there arent many here who would remember him either. Bloody Fevola :finger:
