Please, bare with me, i have been looking thru the search and cannot find where it is.I have seen it somewhere here. I have a 2000 GU 4.2 turbo diesel wagon.
I want to know the easiest way to check if my clutch is on the out. I believe there is no adjustment on or near the slave cylinder. My pedal seems to bite closer to the floor. But if i pump it a couple of times it rises. On a couple of occasions in top gear going up a long hill it starts to slip, then if i back off seems to be ok. I am just making sure before i spend the big bucks that it is the problem. Any good advise would be great.
Thanks Gazza

Park somewhere safe where you won't run in to anything like a big carpark that's empty. Put handbrake on firmly, clutch in, put it in 3rd or 4th gear, give some light revs and let the clutch out. If it stalls then the clutch should be ok. If it runs on a little then its probably on its way out. If your rear main seal is leaking, oil could be getting on the mating faces and causing slip.

Do you have any free play? Have you tried giving it a good bleed? Have you changed the master or slave cylinder lately?

I had a similar issue with my GQ. No problem until I put a non genuine slave cyl on.

It turned out the slave was a slightly different capacity to the original and wasn't equalizing with the master.

The more I drove it/used it, the higher the clutch engaged until it was that high it would slip.

Fixed it with the adjustment behind the master cylinder.
