After market steering wheel?

Just chasing info on after market steering wheels as mine is starting to fall to bits, I have searched and realize that steering wheels from other model nissans fit.
What after market steering wheel are you running? Are you happy with it?

Aftermarket steering wheels I think are crap.
Bit generaly I know but most I have seen are to small diametre. And unless your a avg (or smaller person) there to small.
On a GQ I cant see the guages properly with a sports wheel.
I had a steering wheel off a SSS Pulsar. I have been very happy with it. Another good thing with them is it still says Nissan in the middle and its bolt on for less than $80. They also have a much better finish.
WHere as aftermarket wheels cost more and you still have to buy a boss kit.

Now if you want to go down this path though. I do have a boss kit in the cupboard that I want be using. Its for sale for 20% off what ever they retail at.

I have a aftermarket one, and you can get the nissan insert symbol from superheap repco etc etc

I have no issues with seeing or locating my dials, i can see the temp better, and i can watch the speedo

I find it better/comfortable on the long drives, and for quick responses its really good.


The pulsar is a good cheap upgrade, and bolts straight on, and mine is about the same size as the pulsar type.

A new aftermarket one will need a boss....

I got a good boss kit for $50-$60 dollars and a 290mm steering wheel with a flat bottom. Its tiny and i like it lots.

How do you find it reaching the indicator stalk? My biggest gripe with most bosses is the way they move the wheel further up from the stalks so you can't operate the stalk without taking your hand off the wheel... what do you reckon?

i have a small wheel in my shorty, love it for most things, high speed stuff it feels really good and responsive but with 35s and a tempromental p/s box it can be a lil akward turning on the spot quickly, but then again im only a little bloke so it might seem harder for me, i can see all my guages fine also

I have actually got the PULSAR wheel in my GU.

I love it

Only downside is that the idicator cancel and horn does not work.
COuld be modified to suit but doesn't bother me...... Indicator cancel on GUs is a joke anyway

Went back to the standard wheel Maverick but that is starting to delaminate.

I would replace the wheel with a Pulsar type if it came to that but if it meant not having the indicators cancelling then I would consider getting another standard wheel.

sounds like AJ got a dud...

I've got an N34 (Ithink) Pulsar wheel on mine and everything works great. Heaps better the stock, and you wouldn't know it was not from the original unless you knew what you were looking for.

I have big hands and long fingers, so not being a flogga, in reality i have no problems hitting the Stalks. In that picture, the stalk is on high beam setting and most situations, i will go low beam when turning into a new road, so i don't normally have a problem.

But you are right, most boss's will move it away from you.

Below is an steering wheel N15 and it has been fitted to N14 Pulsar with no mods so it would suit a Patrol also.

IT can be fixed EASILY i have added self cancelling indicators to all wheels and bosses i've had in the past.

The indicator canceling thing is further down the steering shaft than the little spline bit the steering wheel bolts to.
The only problem I had with mine was the horn earths differently. Just disconnect when installing. Then plug in. But I also had a slight issue on my current shorty. Where the steel ring that the horn works off wasnt quite touching. Just loosened of the screws and pushed that part forwards a little.

Never had any issues with the SSS pulsar wheel after 7yrs.
