Outer Limits 4x4 Board

im having problems with my front diff its a 95 ifs 2.8 extra cab. when i put it in 4wd the diff makes some not so good noises. bu drives normal out of 4wd.
is it possible to remove the diff and still drive it.
how much of a mission is it to remove the diff myself with a skill level of about 6-7 ,10 being the highest.
how much am i looking at for a new diff?

need a bit more info mate. But sounds like a cv to me. I cant see a diff just blowing? Has it always done it? Were u out giving it a hard time when it started?
