hey mate, i own a feroza mines a 1994 model its an SX 2 widebody. They come with a carby or fuel injected. The fuel injected one is the better pic. Also the exhaust manifolds are prone to cracking, it will whistle if it is. You won't have to many problems with them as Daihatsu was made by toyota. The gearboxes are a little weak but if treated right you will get thousands of kms out of them.

With a few mods they can turn into a weapon, mine has a 2" toughdog lift with adjustable shockies in the rear and gas ones in the front also has a 2" body lift and 30" maxxis muddies, i just let them down to 18psi and the little thing walks where diff locked patrols go if the right line is driven. I made a tube bar for the front of mine to :P

Mightymouse knows a heap about them ask him he will give you some valuable advice.

Anyway heres a few pics of mine:

If the Vitara is a "Hair dresser's car"
A Feroza is the Apprentice Hair dresser's car.

In my opinion, The Vitara is tougher, It's a Suzuki. Daihatsu's arn't really known for their durability. Mine being a 1.6L EFI it's still very easy on the fuel and parts support is very wide. I chose the LWB vitara because of the extra storage space and "leg room".

thanks

thanks for the answers so far what can i say i still like the feroza'a but atari4x4 that is one good looking suzuki i did not know you could get that much flex from a vitara well done (nice build up thread too thanks) but i dont know maybe you just have to be an apprentice hairdresser before you become a full blown hairdresser

as for lwb over swb i prefer the swb more fun only need drivers seat and room for three dogs so i do not see a swb being a prob go camping on a motor bike so if it fits on a bike it should fit in a swb

Daihatsu's ARE known for their reliability, rust-protection and for over-engineering their 4x4's and light trucks - when you crawl under one for a look you can see that. If spares were still easily available then the Feroza would have it all over the Vitara, but since Daihatsu withdrew from Australia chasing Feroza-only parts is harder than it should be. They're still out there, its just a little more expensive these days for spares.

Case in point, my transfer case: you can't, to my knowledge, buy a rebuild kit for it - but all the parts are common (except gaskets) and available individually (bearings, bushes, seals etc). $650 for a secondhand random condition one, or fit $80 in common-size bearings and shes back in business.
