Greetings from Canada, falcon Alt question

One of your members here linked me to your site about doing an Alt upgrade.

I was going to do the GM Alt but now this falcon upgrade seems more appealing. Only problem is we don't have falcons in Canada. Anyone know what car may cross with a car over here? I thought i had it looking at this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... K:MEWAX:IT

but i went and looked at one at the parts store and it is definitely different. not much but it is.

my Suzuki samurai has the 1.6 ltr in it from a Suzuki sidekick with a 4 row serpentine belt pulley on it.

what were the years of the car to get what i need?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, or even if someone could ship 1 or 2 over here. not sure if it would be cost efficient as shipping charges might be brutal.

Thanks

The Falcon alternators are just a generic part. Just hunt around at a wreckers and have a look under the bonnet of all the bigger cars, especially the older ones, and just find one that looks reasonably the same as far as mounting is concerned. Even take the bottom alternator bracket from youre suzy and make sure that fits in the larger alternator or is easily adaptable.

this has been done. I could do the GM swap but when I found out about falcon swap it perked my interest.

thanks

do you know what year the falcon is?

You want a Bosch BXF1260A.

14V/108A with internal Regulator.

Bosch 10 digit part # F 005 A00 303.

Hope you can get this in Canada.

This IS the Falcon alternator. I have not done the swap myself yet, so follow the tech on this site for installation guide. Might be slight bracket mods, but I believe wiring is as simple as plugging it in and upgrading the charge wire.

Bursons sell this for $298. Could probably get it for less with trade discount.

I looked into these alts as a possible fit.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MITSUBIS ... ccessories.

Could be worth a look if you can a 2nd hand one from those models.

went and looked at 3 more alt today at the parts store with zero luck.

Anyone willing to pull me a couple and ship them here?

I guess i would need to know about the shipping costs first and how much these go for at a wrecker. I could also get something you may need/want from Canada?

Anyone????

hey, i wouldnt even bother with second hand units because of where they sit, right under the power steer pump and resevoir and they are prone to leaking. because of the availability and price of parts, you dont want to get it over there and find that they dont last long.

i would be getting a bosh replacement unit mate.. spend the money on one of them as the internal parts will be the same as something you already have in canada.. just the housing will be different. plus the bosch units also tend to be cheaper to repair.
