lift will have to go, 35 & 33s will have to go as well

Talk to Ryano about the tyres. I believe he said he helped a customer go through the legal side of getting a defect notice for 33's on a patrol overturned. So you may be OK with the 33's.

35's no chance. Lift is also out unless it is 2" body + 2" spring. Contact the manufacturers of the other bits.

You can have 33's not 35's, you can have 2" lift not 4, that is it.

To run adjustable arms you will need to get an Engineers report and blue plate fitted by an approved person (not QLD Tpt through Modification Application)

To run BBM front Radius Armys you will need to get an Engineers report and blue plate fitted by an approved person (not QLD Tpt through Modification Application)

In QLD you can no longer get 35's approved or anything bigger than a 2" suspension lift.

33s should be passable on a GQ afaik. 35s no way, as others have said.

It is all a bit stupid and excessive but what can you do?

can't drive em in queensland even on NSW rego pretty stupid. I had the same argument with an inspector not long ago . I asked when they would make all the rules line up and his reply was when they change their laws to meet ours , looks like it may happen that way considering the changes down south .

for a patrol i think its 32.4" is the max or something like that so they can turn you away on 33s

before you go anywhere, speak wiht qld roads on what will be legal.. plenty of threads on people who have built shit that they cannot register.

Yeah might have to look at the rule book.. I am from VIC and down there we just get in engineered and its all good, or just don't worry about it and as long as it looks legal no one seems to get busted!! Mate even claimed insurance with 6" lift 36 mudy and a turbo hanging off his patrol NO Questions asked when the inspectio look at it!!

31s are illegal on a Hilux so you have no hope of 33s

Interesting ..... the tyre placard on my Hilux Surf says 31x10.5x15 ????
Beam axle can go 50mm bigger I believe (i.e. 33's).

yours is an import Hilux based vehicle not a Australian spec Hilux

its easy. Just build your truck to legal standards then once regoed, start to mod. And just run the risk like the rest of use!

nteresting ..... the tyre placard on my Hilux Surf says 31x10.5x15 ????
So getting hold of a tyre placard that says what i want is the go?? They can't be that bad at QLD Transport..

QLD can go plus 15mm diameter and plus %50 width.
beam axle can go 50mm increase in track.

as far as the OP goes, that means you can fit 32s to a GQ.

suspension lift rules are you can not change the bump clearance by more then 1/3 in either direction. there is no stated max lift. but again in the case of the GQ any more then 40mm lift is more then the 1/3 rule.
though i've never heard of a 2inch lift being knocked back.

Wouldn't recommend that as it is illegal to remove a tyre placard and replace it with one other than the factory one. A few guys up here have been fined for swapping the placard on their commodore to a later model one to make it appear to comply when running 19s/20s

O.K. I'll stay away from that idea then............... :bad-words:

AFAIK, SA is the only place that will let you go 50mm bigger than stock without an engineers cert.

Im pushing to get my lux on 2+2" + 285/75R16's thru engineering soon- will be ringing next week to find out just what has to be done to get it passed.

SR5 4Runners have 31's, so I would have thought SR5 Lux's would have too?

sell your patrol and buy a defender then u wont have to mod it so much to get anywhere :P or u can just be a outlaw like the majority of us 4x4ers in qld

Have you got that in writing from somewhere? When I went through in '07 the 15mm limit applied - the larger tyres had to be engineered (among other things.)

don't apply for anything. Take the lift out, put the smaller tyres on. Go to www.transport.qld.gov.au and search for this - INSTALLATION OF AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT NON-GENUINE
SUSPENSION COMPONENTRY TO MOTOR VEHICLES have a read, it says aftermarket suspension components are fine.

Follow the directions on the notice that was given to you - is it a self clearing defect?

Bah QT are useless at answering anything besides what exactly is stated in their crappy lil rule book in front of them. If you ask them anything remotely away from the book they cant answer you.

If you read thru the suspension replacement bit from QT as listed above is also states:

1) An acceptable replacement part is a part that is manufactured to good
engineering standards and does not adversely affect vehicle safety
and complies with applicable ADRs and Queensland legislation.

So therefore a leaf/coil spring, if it lifts the vehicle altering the std bumpstop height by 1/3, does not comply with applicable QLD legislation. So as Heath suggested, lift out small tyres on. The non genuine arms should be ok according to this.

I got a noise defect on my pp rx7. De registered the vehicle, got a rwc from a sympathetic mechanic and re rego'd.
Definatly a dodgy way to go about things, but worked at the time.
