hey i am building a new motor for my sierra and am after a bit more power. im doin the head at the moment and was wondering how much i could deck off it to raise the compression a bit, im anyone has done this and knows how much you can take off that would be great. its a 96 single ohc 1.3

your waisting your time raising the compression on the G13 8V engine will only make it ping more than it already does

I cant remember, but just tell the head guy you want to raise the comp by about 3/4 of a point and he should have a rough idea how much to take of. Keep in mind timing will need to be altered and you will only be able to run 98 octane or above fuel. But it does make a difference.

you haven't put bigger tyres on and haven't done anything about the gearing by chance?

Yes the Sierra is a low powered vehicle but when geared properly they are fine (ish) but chuck bigger tyres on without altering the gearing and you will be way under "powered" and many people seem to then concenrate on making or getting a more powerful engine instead of just fixing the gearing problem
