I had a look through this.
Have a look at using the original fuel pump to prime a surge tank (good for angles) and then run a bosch high pressure pump (something like from a ea/eb falc or a cordia turbo one i know would work.
Surge tank is about $140 prof made from places like formaz and the likes.
Otherwise maybe souce a vitara tank?

As i understand it, if you go the EFI Vitara tank then everything is cool. However, if you just use your normal sierra tank (that has no pump in it), then you need a "lift" pump that takes fuel into a "surge tank" from where it is then pumped* into the engine.
* - i don't know if this process requires another pump though?
p.s. my EFI tank was $300 + shipping... i suggest you do your sums before you start with either option.

A surge tank is not full of russions named surge .. it's an inline tank usually about (very rough) 20 to 30 cm tall and 10 to 15 cm across full of fuel .. basically it makes sure that the high pressue fule pump has fuel at all times to make sure the motor has fuel (In a 4x4 it comes into play on crazy angles etc .. in race cars they have em for hard cornering)

Like love_mud put it the surge tank is so you have a constant high pressure. The deal with the pump is that you only need one if it supplies enough fuel. What your forgetting is with the high pressure you then have to bring it back to the right pressure for your engin using a fuel regulator. Your not running a street machine with a fivth injector so I don't think that much pressure is needed.
Like greg said chase the original down to save time and money. Or a pump from some sort of turbo (usually have high pressure to suit the extra fuel needed on boost.)

I have a Bosch HP pump. I've been told by a FI specialist that these should be gravity fed with a 1/2" line (they have a 1/2" inlet).
I currently have mine connected to the stock tank outlet (which comes out of the top of the tank) but the pickup is at the bottom of the tank. I mounted the pump lower than that point and have had no problems. I have to keep the tank topped up though
Eventually i'd like to make a new tank with a built in surge tank/swirl pot/whatever, just to keep the plumbing down to a minimum.
