I went and spoke to a pannel beater about cutting mine. He told me it was a better option to buy the glass guards which are allready trimmed for only $250 ea.

thats it why

cut up good steel gards
because its almost imposable to keep them 100% straight after cutting and rolling you will have riples and the rolls wont be super neat
with these glass gards i am making they are brand new from nissan so the are straight as can be and with the way i have made then i can make them with a modified edge with no riples at all so the are 100% straight and the edge perfecty rolled
and they will never rust and easy a sh1te to fix

the easyest way is 2 get go round the edge of the gaurd & quarter with 10mm masking tape, cut it on that line with a jigsaw & make the bottoms about 25mm more,, then run 15mm masking tape on that line & fold it over to the tape line with a hammer & dolly for your flares to screw on to, the front is easy but the quarters are abit more tricky coz of the inner, but still not 2 bad, just seal it with some silicon to stop water getting between the 2 panels,, with that measurment the flare sits right on the body line & looks good,, good luck mate //

never ever ever ever ever ever use silicon on a vehicle
It contains acids.........
which WILL initiate rust
I repeat .......
WILL
It also contaminates the surviving steel in the imediate area making painting an absolute nightmare.....
just ask any panelbeater
Ues either URATHANE or SIKAFLEX, these two products are designed to be used on vehicles...
they wont cause rust & are paint friendly

Should the inner arch be re-attached to the outer panel by more than Sikaflex (i.e. spot welded) or is that really enough?
