hey all. i have just started to have a noise in the back end of my zook
i got a spoa and a welded rear. it makes a klunk noise sum times when turning, the lock still works, i did notice the to front bushes on the springs and skrewed could that be making the sound? plz help thanks

jack the car up so wheels are off the ground. spin wheels in oppsoite direction and see how much free play you have. should be minimal.

otherwise check your unis

there is a lil bit of movement there but it doesnt make the nosie all the time

Change your shagged spring bushes and go from there.

just had the gf drive back and forth to see if i could spot it it sounds like it coming from the diff more the right had side . the sound is more like a poping crunch cracking noise

rice bubbles in tyre beads or wheel bearing would be my guess

ive checked them there is no movement in them could they still be gone ? how do i know its not the diff centre cos i only just put the locka in and a new cluth dont want to much to tak apart again

pull the diff out and check it, it only takes 30 mins, if you give the welded are hard time it tends to screw axles pretty easy especially if driven on the road just pends how you drive

but if the axle is broken the locka would nt work still would it?it only does it if u are turning sumtimes

grab ya unis and see how much movement there is, my guess is there bone dry and shagged.

they look dry but no movement in them, it only when turn but.

mine is making ame sorta sound. sounds like its coming from the drivers rear wheel. ipulled the brake apar and reassebled and tightened everything and it went away now its back worse then b4 havent checked if its worked loose again yet

mine did the same thought it was the handbrake, its ya unis.

ok then thanks will look in to it cos i took it down the coast and it did it on the way home. any other idea ?

just checked the 4 nuts in the centre of the rear wheel and they had worked loose again tightened them up and noise is gone again. ill get some lock tight today

my old welded rear use to make a ugly clunking sound on occasions once we pulled ikt apart we found that it had slipped on the welds in the spider gears, that was the noise i was hearing but it only ever happened a few times in about a year...

the 4 nuts on the center of the wheel are craap they are only good for a few times on and off then the thread is stuffed, i had to replace them on a few of my zooks, they are made out off weak material.
replace with high tensile items and new spring washers

ok mine is doing the same i was in the bush started clunking everynow and again from the rear wheel drove home when i pulled off the moterway and slowed down realised it was MUCH MUCH worse pulled up at home there is diff oil dribbeling out the drivers side wheel

That sounds like a wheel bearing. I had the same happen just recently.

got back out to the friends place where i left my sierra pulled the rear axil and the drivers bearing was in lots of pieces passenger side is not so flash either
4wd products on eBay has a replacement set for $85
now upon reading forums i gather i need a hydraulic press to install bearings but a grinder and a chisel will get them off
figured i could buy the bearings remove the old ones and take the axils into a shop to have them pressed
trying to save a buck
any advice would be much appreciated
