G'day chaps just after some quick advice on any of you boys running Garrett turbo's on your 2.8 diesel.

I can get hold of a Garrett T2 for nothing, in ok condition but im a little unsure of the sizing if it would be too small?
I run a T28 on a 1.3 GTi swift and that is about the same size as this T2 (a.r .48/.42) but unsure if the cubic capicity (1.3-2.8) would affect the spool difference as the GTi doesn't come onto song until 3,000 rpm, which would make the turbo of this size on a 2.8 practically hopeless, as I want it to work from say 1300 to 3000 range prodominately (spelling!).

I'd like to stay with Garrett turbo's due to parts availability of the toyota ct turbo's I've found to be hard!

Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate it.

Simon.

I'm currently running a T2 and think that it's the best way to go.
I've had a few other set ups and driven heaps of others (switzer, factory surf set up, T3/4 hybrid & mitsubitshi turbo). They are all fine to drive and easy to fit but don't quite give you the power range of the T2. It spools up early and pulls right through the rev range.
Other people claim more power, bigger kick when the boost comes on etc, etc. The best part of the smaller T2 is the early boost which hardly "kicks in", it just sems like a nice linear power curve which seems much like an extension of the natural power curve.
The only change I would consider is that I want to go to a T25 centre to get the water cooling to complement the standard oil cooling. (my T2 is actually an old "Airesearch M10" from an early nissan ET pulsar)
