Got a GU 4.2 turbo diesel ute and want to auto it for comp. Will a gq box fit? Does it need to be a diesel 4.2 auto or are they the same?
Any help would be great.

GU auto is a better box.... you can get the upgraded bits for it that aren't available in the GQ auto. People usually buy the GU valve body for the GQ.

Try to get a ti gq or 4.5 gu box and bellhousing mate because there are a couple of types. The gearboxs i`ve mentioned have bigger torque converter as well.

4.5 Petrol box will mount up with a bit of work..
GQ bellhousing,
custom t/converter,
GQ auto computer..
PWR oil coolers,
Tbar etc etc etc...

Petrol or diesel?? They have different bell housings.

a TD42 is the same mounts from start to finish. The GQ box is nowhere near as strong as the GU one.
