How the hell do i get the broken one off and a new one on.
Tried for 15mins last night and not even close.

I got to mine through the engine bay. Have to remove one large relay box which only has one bolt so it's easy, then you can get your hand in there. Getting the new wire through the firewall, under the dash and to the radio is a bit harder! it's not impossible, but you have to be flexible and if you have someone help you at the other end it helps! I think from memory, I fed through some coat hanger wire first, then taped the new antenna wire to it and got it through.

Now this is for a normal manual type of antenna, I don't have an electric one. I replaced it with one of those shorter rubber type cos I hate replacing the longer metal type everytime I go offroad and forget it extended. The reception isn't as good with these but better than breaking them all the time.

Electric Aerial: Is it just the mast that is broken? If so then go buy yourself a new mast and rope assembly (Toyota or aftermarket). Unscrew the aerial mast cap (little chrome cap with 4 holes on the top). Use a specific tool or a pair of pointy nose pliers to unscrew the cap via 2 opposing notches of the 4 in the cap. Turn radio on and catch the old mast and rope as it comes out. Note direction of teeth on the rope and line the new rope up in the same direction. Turn radio off and feed rope into motor until it grabs the rope and line the mast up to go into the hole. Refit cap and pat yourself on the back.

If the rope is broken then you will prossibly have a bit left in the motor so you will have to remove the whole motor from the inner guard (after removing the cap and mast) and dismantle it to remove the rope. Reassemble and fit new mast and rope as above.
