Welding to chassis

Are you legally allowed to weld barwork to your chassis, for example sliders and tube tray (QLD).
I was of the belief that anything attached to a chassis has to be bolted, but this is coming from a truck body building background.
Yet i see lots of trucks with the exo/tray/rear bar/sliders welded straight to the chassis (suitably reinforced, obviously).

Does anyone know the rules in regard to this? :?

weld crush tube inside the chassis and bolt through it with plates each side - itll be strong as and you can replace it easily if you smash the bar work.
