Just rebuilding my starter motor and am wondering how to get one of the bearings off of the clutch.

The bearing is pressed onto the shaft on the left and sits hard up against a lip. Does anyone know how to get the bit with the gear out to allow the bearing to come off to the right. The toyota repair manual doesn't go into it that much.

Does it look like the gear is pressed on or held with a key?

The gear can move one up and down on the thinner shaft and I think the little ring on the end attached to the shaft somehow and it doesn't look easy to get off.

It's pretty easy actually. You need to pull the gear back (use a vice to do this) so that the collar can be tapped back off the snap ring. Once you do that, you just have to remove the snap ring and the collar and gear will come off. use a couple of small screw drivers, or a scriber. Be careful though, as the snap ring will fly off and you wont be able to find it and I could'nt find anywhere that sells them.
