Outer Limits 4x4 Board

ok guys i am going to be getting a 2" suspension lift soon for my 97 single cab hilux to save some cash i am going to give it a crack at fitting it myself. being a carpentry apprentice i don't have a lot of skill in mechanics but im willing to try anything.


is there any thing that you guys have done before that has made it that much easier?

i currently have sockets spanners shifters hammers and 2 axel stands i have access to a pump jack thing what else is recommened to complete this lift?

at the same time i want to chuck my 2" body lift in. i am allowing 2 days for the suspension how long does a body lift take to fit?

Solid axle or IFS?
If its solid axle then you undo the 4 u-bolts on each spring and then the shackle at the back then you have the pin at the front. The car should be lifted for the wheels to be off the ground and supported by jack stands. Chock the rear wheels.

Body lift you need a big jack and a big lump of wood to lift the cab and you do one side at a time and you undo the nuts of the body blocks but leave the bolts still in the side thats not being lifted.
Get a person to watch the brake lines to make sure they dont kink.
Undo the steering column and let it out a bit more.
Make sure the clutch fan does not foul on the radiator. Hoses stretch so thats fine. Gearbox shifter should be fine. Make sure that the 4wd activator cable and 4wd lights wires dont break. If so add some more cable and lengthen them.

also i ahve talked to the the guys and 4wd1 about what im getting and he said i need heaps of grease what type of grease is the best and can it be bought from repco?

Im guessing the grease is for the bushes and shackle pins?
If so, all you need is moly grease.
Bearing grease is overkill.

Oxy kit is handy if the bushes have "attached" theselves to the pins, mine were like that and were a PITA to get out
