Buying a Built 4x4 from Interstate

Asking this for a friend who is thinking of buying a built Cherokee from Victoria and driving it to Sydney and registering it in NSW. It has 4 inches of lift and a fair few other mods. The question i have is what have you experienced with changing rego for a truck from state to state. Especially to NSW. Cheers

A fellow on this board (haste) recently purchased a built up zook from NSW and brought it into VIC.
I think he just called up Vicroads, told them what he was doing, told them it was engineered (which is was), and they said no worries. The rego was transferred and there was no need for Vicroads to look at the car etc...
Call up your local Vicroads/RTA type mob and have a chat.

Thanks greg....anyone else have any experiences? This rig is not engineered. But only as unroadworthy as every 2nd GQ or 80 series on the roads.

Then it might be a matter of returning it to stock if they want to see it, otherwise if it doesn't need to be seen then you should be fine right?

It will need a blue slip for the rego to be transferred to NSW. By the sounds of it alot of AUVIS places would baulk at the thought of passing it without an engineers certificate. Unless the 'other' mods are dodgy it should pass for an engineers certificate ok with only a 4 inch lift so this might be something for him to factor in with the cost of buying the vehicle. I think most certs will run to $500 +/-, then the blue slip, then the rego etc etc... starting to sound expensive.
